While fulfilling God’s purpose in their lives, serving as pastor of a local church can bring unique challenges. Recognizing the burdens placed on pastoral families, the Church of God Tennessee State Office has established the THRIVE program.

‘THRIVE’ is a pilot ministry led by Bishop Wayne Dority, Darrell Bewley, the Coordinator of State Ministries and the Ministries Board.

‘THRIVE’ will provide credible counselling to pastors and their families who would like to take advantage of both confidential and professional assistance. ‘THRIVE’ will be a ministry of the highest integrity and will operate with the following core values:

This confidential and professional assistance will be offered to all Tennessee pastors and their families at no charge. Pastoral veterans Dr. Roger and Pam Childers have been retained for this pilot program and will be made available throughout the state one week per month. All appointments will be made directly through the office of Dr. Childers and persons will be seen at a neutral site for the purpose of confidentiality. The Administrative Bishop or State Office staff will have no knowledge of the identity of those receiving professional assistance.

If you are a pastor in Tennessee and you feel THRIVE would be helpful to you or your family, please contact the Childers at (423)-637-0186 or email them at
